Legal literacy classes for women sarpanches

HYDERABAD Jan. 8. The Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission will be holding legal literacy awareness classes for women sarpanches and women presidents of MPPs and ZPs and women members of these local bodies.

In a letter to the Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Employment, the Commission has informed that such classes would be held in Rangareddy (Jan 29), Nalgonda (Jan 31 and Feb 2 and 3), Medak (Feb 5 and 8), Mahaboobnagar (Feb 8, 9 and 10), Warangal (Feb 11 and 12), Khammam (Feb 13 and 14), Kurnool (Feb 17, 18 and 19), Cuddapah (Feb 20 and 21), Anantapur (Feb 24 and 25), Srikakulam (March 4 and 5), Vizianagaram (March 7), Visakhapatnam (March 9, 10 and 11), East Godavari (March 13, 14 and 15), West Godavari (March 18 and 19), Nizamabad (March 22), Adilabad (March 24, 25, 26 and 27), Karimnagar (April 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8), Krishna (April 12 and 13), Guntur (April 14 and 15), Prakasam (April 16 and 17), Nellore (April 18) and Chittoor (April 20, 21 and 22).

The Commissioner of Panchayat Raj, D. Srinivasulu, in a separate statement appealed to women to make use of the opportunity to empower oneself.
