Maruti hikes prices

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 8. Maruti Udyog Limited today announced a "nominal increase'' in the prices of all its models except Baleno and Versa due to higher input costs in recent months. The hike (ex-show-room Delhi) would range from Rs. 2,135 on the lower side for Maruti-800 (standard) to a maximum of Rs. 5,335 for Esteem.

Claiming that only a part of the hike was passed on to the customers, company officials said it would also absorb the insurance costs for Omni, Zen, Alto, Wagon-R and Esteem by charging only Re. 1 on each of these new cars up to February 28. The mega campaign `Change Your Life', under which new car customers are eligible for cash prizes and gifts will also continue till February 28.
