B.S. Gopalakrishna dead

MADIKERI Jan. 8 . B.S. Gopalakrishna (73), founder-editor of the Kannada daily, Shakti, published from here, died on Wednesday afternoon owing to prolonged illness. Mr. Gopalakrishna is survived by his wife, three sons, and two daughters. He founded Shakti in 1957.

Mr. Gopalakrishna published Sandhya Deepa, an eveninger from here, for two years, Chetana, a weekly for 18 months, and served as the editor of Samyukta Karnataka and Kasturi, family sources said. Mr. Gopalakrishna was a recipient of the Karnataka Patrika Academy and the Rajyotsava Awards i n 1991. The Director of Information, B.N.S. Reddy, the President of the Karnataka Patrika Academy, N. Arjuna Deva, and the Kodagu Information Officer, P.P. Ponnappa, have condoled the death of Mr. Gopalakrishna.
