Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
The doctors would facilitate the chlorination of drinking water sources there, according to the Health Minister, E. Valsaraj. As soon as reports of some residents being hospitalised with complaints of gastro enteritis reached the headquarters, the Minister kept contacting different sources to know the actual situation in the village. Of the four persons admitted to hospital, three were discharged. According to reports he had earlier received, some 30 persons, who had taken beef some days ago, had developed symptoms of diarrhoea and were hospitalised. They had since been discharged. The Minister told newsmen that there was also a complaint of contamination of drinking water source and hence samples of water were sent for lab test and the authorities had initiated measues to ensure that nothing went awry. Panick-stricken villagers staged a road roko and urged the authorities to take steps to prevent contamination of drinking water.
