Team to assess flood havoc

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JAN. 8. A nine-member Central team is coming to assess the damage caused by the recent floods in the State. It will tour the State from January 12 to 16.

Led by H. R. Singh, Joint Secretary, Home Ministry, the team consists of representatives of the Finance (Expenditure), Agriculture, Water Resources, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, Road Transport, Urban Development and Poverty Eradication departments and the Planning Commission.

The team, which reaches the State capital on Sunday noon, will also visit the nearby affected areas. It would hold talks with the Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani and the Chief Secretary, N. Chandrasekharan Nair, the next day. It would leave for Alappuzha the same afternoon and visit Kozhikode on January 14 and Kannur on January 15. The team will return to Delhi after talks with the Principal Secretary for Revenue in Kochi on January 16.
