Astle injured

Auckland Jan. 9. Kiwi opener Nathan Astle is out of the sixth ODI in Auckland on Saturday. Astle flew to Christchurch from Wellington on Thursday after complaining of a painful knee during the one-dayer against India at Wellington. New Zealand Cricket's medical panel is based in Christchurch.

Astle's problem has been diagnosed as Patella Tendinosis. Lou Vincent, who can bat, both at the top and the middle-order, has rejoined the side, and he practiced with the New Zealand squad during the indoor training session, here, on Thursday.

Vincent had been left out for the fifth ODI. In Astle's absence, he could open with skipper Stephen Fleming.
