Addressing a gram sabha at the Kothapet upper primary school in Pullampet mandal, she said houses and lands were being allotted to the landless and banks were extending loans to artisans for purchasing tools. The DWCRA has economically empowered women, she added. Stating that the mandal has substantial number of handloom workers, she said those unable to work were being given pensions. Directing officials to issue receipts to people submitting representations, she said developmental works such as roads and drinking water pipelines were laid and compound walls built for schools at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs. Works were also taken up under the Food-for-work programme. She also served food to students of the school during the mid-day meal scheme and inspected the medical and veterinary camps. The nodal officer, Abbanna, the MPTC member, Saraswathamma, the sarpanch, Venkatesu, and others were present. Later, speaking to newsmen, she said the Government was striving to sink borewells and fix motors in each habitation. Roads were laid and drinking water supply augmented by putting up additional taps in Kodur constituency with an outlay of Rs. 4 crores, she said.
