Property worth Rs. 42 lakhs unearthed

HYDERABAD Jan. 9. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday unearthed assets worth Rs. 42 lakhs belonging to a Immadi Srinivasa Rao, Deputy Executive Engineer of Roads and Building Department in Guntur, during simultaneous raids conducted at Guntur, Bapatla, Narsaraopet and Machavaram.

The properties included three houses, a flat and a shop in Guntur, another house in Bapatla, five house sites, lands and a Maruti Zen car. He was also found in possession of 1,200 gm of gold, seven kg silver, valuable household articles, investments in share market and chit funds, all worth Rs. 12 lakhs. Further investigation is on.

Raid on Commercial Taxes official

In another case, the ACB officials on Thursday unearthed properties worth Rs. 50 lakhs acquired by an Assistant Commissioner (Intelligence) of Commercial Taxes Department in Nellore, G. Gopal, during raids conducted at Nellore, Tirupati and Hyderabad.

The assets included two buildings -- one at Tirupati and another at Chittoor -- 14 house sites, cash in various banks and fixed deposit receipts. Two bank lockers at Tirupati were yet to be opened.
