Ernakulam-Kozhikode intercity express soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JAN. 9. A new Intercity Express is to be introduced in the Ernakulam-Kozhikode-Ernakulam sector with effect from January 19.

The inaugural 6306 Kozhikode-Ernakulam Intercity Express will leave Kozhikode at 5.30 p.m on January 19 and will arrive at the Ernakulam Junction at 9.45 p.m the same day, according to railways. The train will be flagged off by the Union Minister of State for Urban Affairs, O. Rajgopal, at Kozhikode.

With the introduction of the Intercity Express train in the Ernakulam-Kozhikode stretch, the long-pending demand of the commuters, especially office-goers, for a train from Ernakulam to Kozhikode in the morning has been fulfilled.

The regular service of the 6305/6306 Ernakulam-Kozhikode- Ernakulam Intercity Expresses will commence from both ends on January 20. The 6305 train will leave from the Ernakulam Junction at 6.45 a.m every day to reach Kozhikode at 11.20 a.m. In the return direction, the 6306 train will depart from Kozhikode at 5.30 p.m to arrive at the Ernakulam junction at 9.45 p.m.

The train will have one AC Chair car, 10 Second Chair Car and two Luggage-cum-General Second Class coaches. The train will have stoppages at Aluva, Thrissur, Shrornur, Kuttipuram and Tirur railway stations, according to railways.

The 6627/6628 Chennai Central-Mangalore-Chennai West Coast Express and the 6345/6346 Kurla-Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kurla Nethravathi Express will stop at the Ferok railway station from January 30 for the benefit of Haj pilgrims, according to a railway release.
