Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
A press release issued by GAIL said the authority is planning to develop FCty gas distribution networks in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Amalapuram, Bhimavaram, Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Secunderabad, all of which are located along the 580-km pipeline route. The natural gas requirements of the industrial, commercial, domestic and transport sectors in these cities would be met through the pipeline, which is nearing completion ahead of schedule. It would be ready for commissioning by mid-2003. According to the release, GAIL is evaluating the option of seeding the markets in the cities with synthetic natural gas, which is a mixture of LPG and air, to develop the city gas markets prior to the availability of natural gas. The pipeline project, which entailed an investment of Rs. 490 crores, was originally slated for the exclusive transportation of LPG from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
