Krishna waters: Cong. demand flayed

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Jan. 9. The Minister for Tourism, T. Srinivas Yadav, while reiterating the State Government's resolve to bring the Krishna waters to the City by March 2004, criticised the Congress demand for the resignation of the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, if the Government failed to divert the water within a month.

At a press confererence here on Thursday, he referred to the Congress demand raised by the APCC president, M. Satyanarayan Rao, at a dharna organised by the Hyderabad City unit yesterday to press diversion of the Krishna water.

Mr. Yadav described Mr. Rao's demand for Mr. Naidu's resignation as `cheap publicity for personal gain' and challenged the party if it could bring the Krishna water within a month if all resources were provided to it.

The Minister said the protest by the Congress was a `game of upmanship' and an attempt to usurp the right of the group headed by P. Janardhan Reddy who was the only one to stage empty pot rallies pressing for Krishna water. After the recent Warangal BC convention the V. Hanumanth Rao group was trying to assert itself and yesterday's protest was part of this strategy, Mr.Yadav claimed.
