In a press release here on Thursday, Commissioner and Director of School Education, Manmohan Singh, said holiday was declared for `Kanuma' which falls on January 16 as well following a request made by the teachers union. Mr. Singh urged the district education officers and headmasters to ensure that the total number of working days in the academic year does not fall short of 220 days. Meanwhile, the vacation for junior colleges and composite degree colleges in the State for the academic year 2002-2003 will be from January 11 to 19 and the colleges will reopen on January 20. The junior college principals were further directed not to use the premises for any other activity during the holidays, a press release from the Commissioner and Secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education, B. Kripanandam, said.
