According to information reaching here, a group of Ayyappa devotees belonging to Vanasthalipuram and Hayatnagar set out for Sabarimala in a van this noon. In a bid to overtake a lorry the vehicle crashed into a truck coming in the opposite direction resulting in the mishap. The victims were identified as Kanakesh (27), Bhaskar Reddy (35), Lakshman (45), Raghava Rao (40) and Ramulu (34). The seriously injured after initial treatment at the Mahabubnagar headquarters hospital were shifted to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad. The injured were Dhanapal, Karunakar, Shankar Goud, Shyam, Yadagiri and the van driver Gopi. The Law Minister, P. Chandrashekar, and district Collector, K. Madhusudana Rao, visited the hospital and arranged for shifting of the injured to Hyderabad.
