By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI JAN. 9. An awareness rally by school students marked the Road Safety Week celebrations, organised by the Regional Transport Office (Central), on Thursday.

The rally, which was flagged off by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), G.U.G. Sastry, from Nehru Park concluded at the Traffic Park at Vepery.

Nearly 400 students and more than 40 teachers belonging to six schools including the MCC Higher Secondary School, participated in the rally.

The procession also had representatives from 50 driving schools.

"Life is precious, take care, drive carefully" was the concept of the rally, which not only aimed at spreading awareness about road safety among the public but also educating the youngsters to abide by the traffic norms.

The Joint Transport Commissioner (Rules), G. James, and the Regional Transport Officer (Central), A. Abdul Sathar, participated.
