Asthana appointed

NEW DELHI JAN. 10 . Air Marshal T. M. Asthana was today named the first commander-in-chief of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), responsible for the administration of nuclear forces.

He will report to the Chairman of the Chief of Staffs Committee (CSC), a rotational post now held by the Navy chief. He may be appointed to the Nuclear Command Authority's (NCA) executive council.
