The idea of organising the campaign was mooted by the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh. He had got the concept approved at an all-party meeting here recently. The Jhanda Uncha... campaign will continue till Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary on January 30. Mr. Singh was especially present at a function held at the Gandhi Hall in Indore to mark the beginning of the event. Those who attended the programme took the pledge to work with full commitment to protect India's historic legacy of universal brotherhood and ensure respect for all religions. Special programmes were held here to mark the beginning of the campaign. Though it was a Sunday, large number of students joined the campaign and took out a procession from the Kamala Nehru School. The procession, led by the Minister, Urmila Singh, marched through the new market area. After the garlanding of Swami Vivekananda's statue at the Polytechnic Square, it converged at Ravindra Bhawan's open-air theatre where everyone took the pledge.
