It will now be Army War College

NEW DELHI
JAN 14.
The College of Combat of Army will now be known as Army War College with effect from Army Day tomorrow.
A change in name had become imperative since the college had long ago exceeded its original ambit. `Combat' it was felt does not encompass all aspects of warfare. The college had developed into an institution of international status and its scope now extended to national strategy, operational art, leadership, logistics and information warfare. The Army was also aware of the international trends in this regard. Similar institutions in other countries have ``war'' incorporated in their titles. The U.S. has two such institutions namely the U.S. Army War College and the U.S. Naval War College.
