This rule is applicable to nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, lodges and marriage halls, exceeding 500 square metres in floor area, and hostels with more than 50 rooms, according to a release from the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA), nodal agency for promotion of renewable energy. The release said the State Government, through an order dated November 14, 2002, stated new buildings in the categories provide for solar water heating system and the respective building plans show the provision for getting approval of construction and development of the buildings.
