Powell rejects suggestion

UNITED NATIONS JAN. 21. The U.S. Secretary of State, Colin Powell, has rejected a suggestion that the country exempt people from Pakistan from registering with immigration authorities as Islamabad has been cooperating with Washington in the war against terrorism.

Talking to newsmen after addressing a Security Council meeting on terrorism yesterday, he said the U.S. welcomed people from all over the world, but ``we have to secure our border.''
