(as there was no issue on the 27th)

India drew the First Test with West Indies at Port of Spain. There was reasonably good batting by the tourists, but the West Indians paid them back with great confidence. Brief scores: India 417 (Umrigar 130, Apte 64, Ramchand 61) and 294 (Umrigar 69, Phadkar 65, Apte 52, Ramadhin 3 for 58); West Indies 438 (Weekes 207, Pairadeau 115, Gupte 7 for 162) and 142 for no loss (Stollmeyer 76 not out, Rae 63 not out).
