Level of aggressive surveillance down: Vyas

Islamabad Jan. 26. India's Charge d'Affaires in Pakistan, Sudhir Vyas, today said ``aggressive surveillance''on him had come down.

`The level of aggressive surveillance has come down considerably,'' he said after the flag hoisting ceremony here, adding that he reached the Indian High Commission for the Republic Day function ``without any hassle on the way.''

Diplomatic tensions flared up earlier this month after Pakistan intelligence officials blockaded the car of Mr. Vyas on January 18. Subsequently the Indian High Commission lodged four protest notes with Pakistan office alleging harassment of Mr.Vyas and aggressive surveillance on him by deploying vehicles ``dangerously close'' to his car. Even as Pakistan has denied the allegations, the stand-off so far has seen the two nations expelling four staff members from each of their missions this week.— PTI
