A happy reunion

Dubai Jan. 26. It was a dramatic and tearful family reunion for three children of the United Arab Emirates when their half-brother brought them back here from a Bangalore orphanage, where they were living for the past eight years, after legal wrangling with the Indian authorities.

Their Indian mother, whose whereabouts are unknown, had left Abdul Rahman al Attar (17), Farida al Attar (14), and Tahira al Attar (12), in the orphanage when their father, Yousuf Abdul Rahman al Attar, a UAE national, died. Their half-brother, Mohammed Yousuf al Attar, 40, recognised the children from a newspaper story about the eldest boy excelling in studies in a Bangalore school and traced them. — UNI
