The U.S. General is scheduled to hold talks on Monday with the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, and the head of the Joint Chief of Staff, Gen. Aziz Khan. The talks between the eight-member delegation led by Gen. Musharraf and the Pakistani military establishment would review the ongoing military cooperation. While Gen. Franks travels frequently to the region as part of his job, the current visit would be watched with greater interest in view of the recent clash between the Pakistan and U.S. forces on Afghanistan following differences on ``right to hot pursuit''. The issue was settled after intervention at the highest level amidst assertion by Pakistan that only its forces had the right to operate inside Pakistani territory. Gen. Franks commands U.S. forces in West Asia and Central Asia from his headquarters in Tampa, Florida. He left Florida on Tuesday for a tour of the Persian Gulf, where the U.S. is building up its troops for a possible military operation against Iraq.
