Persecution alleged

Pratapgarh Jan. 26. A day after the Uttar Pradesh police arrested Uday Pratap Singh and slapped POTA on him and his son, the jailed independent MLA, Raja Bhaiyaa, his wife today wrote to the President and the Supreme Court alleging persecution by the State Government.

In letter to the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the apex court and the NHRC, Mr. Raja Bhaiyaa's mother, Manjul Raje, alleged the police had been persecuting her family ever since her son, along with some others, withdrew support to the Mayawati Government. — PTI
