CRPF to man J&K towns

By Shujaat Bukhari

JAMMU JAN. 26. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is all set to replace the Border Security Force (BSF) in Srinagar city and other major towns of the Kashmir Valley in which they have been deployed for counter-insurgency operations.

The BSF Inspector-General of Kashmir Frontier, G.S. Gill, said the Union Home Ministry had taken a decision in this regard.

"There is nothing sensational about it, but it is a considered decision and the de-induction will begin soon. It may take much time to hand over the city and towns to the CRPF completely,'' he told The Hindu.
