MUMBAI JAN. 27. A day ahead of the visit of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, to the metropolis, a powerful explosion ripped through an autorickshaw, killing a woman and injuring 25, eight of them seriously, near a crowded market at suburban Vile Parle around 8.30 p.m., police sources said.

Eleven persons were admitted to the Cooper Hospital, where the condition of a ten-year old child was reported to be critical. Fourteen others were taken to the Nanavati Hospital.

The Police Commissioner, R.S. Sharma, who rushed to the spot, ruled out the hand of the SIMI in the blast. — PTI
