New Delhi, Jan. 28. In a major breach of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's security a car tried to intrude into his motorcade in South Delhi late tonight, police sources said. Although the Special Protection Group fired at the vehicle -- a white Esteem with a Haryana registration number -- the car managed to disappear on Rao Tularam Marg near Vasant Vihar. The Prime Minister, who was returning from Mumbai, was travelling from the airport to his residence at 7 Race Course Road when the incident occurred around midnight. The Prime Minister reached home safely. The incident occurred at 23.30 hrs. at Rao Tula Ram Marg intersection on Delhi-Gurgaon highway. Two persons travelling in the car were detained after a chase and they were being interrogated. A high security alert has been sounded in the city. - PTI, UNI
