2 Rly. websites defaced

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Jan. 29. An hacker, who identifies himself as `powHACK,' on Wednesday defaced two websites belonging to the Indian Railways.

The websites have been pulled off the servers after the defacements and they were not restored till evening.

While the website with URL nfr.railnet.gov.in was that of the North-East Frontier Railway, the other rb.railnet.gov.in was apparently of the Railway Board.

It was not immediately known whether `powHACK' had only defaced the homepage or corrupted the data available on the site. Incidentally, the same hacker had defaced the Eastern Railway site er.railnet.gov.in on January 19.

Though not known to be an anti-India hacker purposefully defacing websites to protest against Indian policies, `powHACK' targetted an Israeli website hotline.grapho.net which.

Inquiries with domain registering sites reveal an interesting fact.

Avalur Madhu, an unmistakably Indian name figures as the administrative contact for the website, which has its office in Haifa city of Israel.

In yet another coincidence, `powHACK' defaced a website desichinese.com owned by a United States-based NRI on Wednesday.
