High Court dismisses appeal against Advani

Gwalior Jan. 29. The Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court today dismissed a petition seeking action against the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, for registering himself as a voter at two places in the mid-Eighties.

Justice R.V. Dixit of the Gwalior Bench, disallowing the petition filed by one S.P. Johri, upheld a lower court order which had rejected the plea for action against Mr. Advani under the Representation of the People Act, for having registered himself as a voter at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and Anjad in Gujarat.

Mr. Advani had contended that he had sent an application to Anjad to get his name deleted from the voters' list there but this deletion was not done and he could not be held responsible for this. — PTI
