NEW DELHI JAN. 30. The former Prime Minister, I.K. Gujral, today called upon peace-loving people to oppose the U.S. drive to launch a war on Iraq and said it was not too late for starting a campaign to avert war.

Mr. Gujral affixed his signature on a huge banner, put up by the All India Youth Federation, at the launch of a signature campaign.

The protest programme was attended by the CPI general secretary, A.B. Bardhan, national secretary, D. Raja, and the Ambassador of Iraq to India, Salah Al Muktar.

Mr. Bardhan said that people's support and solidarity would help clear the war clouds hovering over Iraq.

Apart from the CPI leaders, artists, school children and members of the public signed on the 30-ft. long banner.
