Jadeja stopped from playing league match

NEW DELHI JAN. 30. The former Test cricketer, Ajay Jadeja, was today not allowed to play for National Stadium Cricket Coaching Centre in an `A' division DDCA league match against Golden Hawks at the Yamuna Sports Complex.

The match was into its seventh over when DDCA officials objected to Jadeja's participation. Even as he protested, the umpires announced the abandonment of the match.

Ashok Sharma, secretary of Golden Hawks, had informed the DDCA vice-president, Chetan Chauhan, of Jadeja's presence. Chauhan reportedly issued instructions that the match be halted.

Jadeja had been placed under a five-year ban by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for his alleged involvement in match-fixing. The Delhi High Court, through a decision arrived at by an arbitrator, had set aside the ban. The Board had announced that it would be taking a final decision within the 90 days period it claimed it was allowed by the court.

UNI reports:

"It's strange that I was not allowed to play even after the clearance... I do not understand the legal matters... I just want to play cricket and come back to my playing days," Jadeja said.
