Blackwill meets Advani, Sibal

NEW DELHI Jan. 30. The U.S. Ambassador, Robert Blackwill, today called on the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and held separate meetings with the BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu, the Foreign Secretary, Kanwal Sibal, and the Defence Secretary, Subir Datta.

According to sources, the current status of the Indo-U.S. bilateral relationships and the prevailing situation in Iraq figured in the meetings.

Mr. Blackwill, who returned to New Delhi from the U.S. on Sunday, briefed his interlocutors about his recent discussions on the Indo-U.S. relations in Washington.

For his part, the BJP president is learnt to have reiterated his party's views on India-Pakistan relations.

With the Defence Secretary, Mr. Blackwill discussed the upcoming meeting of the Indo-U.S. Defence Planning Group.
