Shuttle train derails

By Our Special Correspondent

MUMBAI Jan. 31. The 16 coaches of the Dahanu shuttle derailed between Palghar and Umroli stations on Virar-Dahanu Road section near Mumbai this morning.

The accident disrupted the railway traffic on one of the busiest rail routes of the country, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, resulting in cancellation of a number of trains.

The Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar, who was in the city to flag off a new tri-weekly Bandra-Jaipur superfast train, cancelled the ceremony and rushed to Palghar to assess the situation.
