`Pak. placing live mines in Indian territory'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 31. The Army has charged its Pakistani counterpart with placing live mines in the Indian territory on several occasions, long after both countries announced withdrawal of troops from offensive positions.

"The placing of mines with fuses removed suggested that they wanted to cause random casualties and some have taken place including injuries to a BSF jawan and civilians,'' said official sources.

The mines having markings of the Pakistan ordinance factories included anti-personal mines and a larger anti-tank one.

They were recovered from the border post 174 in Sehjra bulge of Ferozepur sector in Punjab. The first was made on December 16 and two mines were found as late as this week. A BSF jawan was injured when he trod on a mine on January 21.

The same day seven more mines were recovered. Officials said this amounted to breach of trust.
