AI to offer discounted holiday packages

New Delhi Jan. 31. Air India today announced discounted fares as part of its lean-season holiday packages on the Europe, U.K. and Gulf routes from March 15 to September 30 to promote tourist traffic. The discount would vary between 20 to 25 per cent of the prevailing fares.The package such as the ones offered by Emirates and Sri Lanka Airlines, would be available for travel to Europe and U.K. region from March 15 to June 15 and in the Gulf region from March 15 to September 30, except for June 25 to July 15, the Civil Aviation Minister, Shahnawaz Hussain, said here today, while accepting a dividend cheque of Rs. 55 crores for 2001-02 from the Airports Authority of India Chairman, S.K. Narula. The Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Sripad Naik, was also present. Mr. Hussain said the packages would target first-time visitors to India, repeat visitors and senior citizens.

These attractive packages had been made with specially-negotiated hotel rates with the Federation of Hotels, Hotel Association of India and Restaurants Association of India.The packages would be promoted in Europe and the U.K. from March 15 to June 15 and in the Gulf from March 15 to September 30 except for the period June 25 to July 15.
