NDA will win in snap poll: survey

NEW DELHI JAN. 31. A ``Mood of the Nation'' poll conducted by a English newsweekly has predicted a decisive victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in case of a snap poll to the Lok Sabha in which the coalition may get a clear majority of 310-320 seats.

The poll, conducted by India Today-ORG-MARG this month, has seen the six-month-old trend of rolling back the anti-incumbency tide ``crystallise quite dramatically'', says the magazine carrying the results of the poll in its latest issue.

The poll suggests that the popular vote for the NDA may touch 42 per cent, giving the ruling coalition a clear majority of between 310 and 320 votes.

If the BJP and the BSP strike a poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh, the NDA tally may even reach 340.

On the face of it, the magazine said, the shifts are small. In just 12 months, the BJP and its allies have gained an extra 0.8 per cent votes; in the same period the Congress combine has lost two per cent votes. — PTI
