Conference on `Education in the knowledge economy' on Tuesday

BANGALORE FEB. 1. The Australian High Commission's conference on "Education in the knowledge economy" will be organised by the Australian Education International (AEI) in association with the Greater Mysore Chamber of Industry (GMCI) at the West End Hotel here on Tuesday at 9 a.m., according to a press release.

The AEI is the international arm of the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training, and it represents the Australian Government in the fields of education, and science and training at a number of its overseas posts such as the Australian High Commission, New Delhi. The conference will bring together experts in education and industry, and government leaders from Australia and India.

Peter Beattie, Premier and Minister for Trade, Government of Queensland; Penelope Wensley AO, Australian High Commissioner to India; Brian Donovan, CEO, IT Skills Hub Melbourne; senior officials of the Australian Government; chiefs of apex professional bodies in Information Technology, and Biotechnology areas, and leading professionals and experts from major Australian companies will participate in the conference. D.B. Inamdar, Minister of State for Tourism and Information Technology, will be the chief guest. G. Parameshwar, Minister for Higher Education, will speak. R.V. Deshpande, Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, will be the chief guest at the valedictory session.
