Traffic restored on Jammu-Srinagar highway

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU FEB. 1. Normal traffic on the 300-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway was restored today even as the Border Road Organisation (BRO) personnel were assisting the trapped vehicles to move out of the snow-bound stretch of the highway.

The BRO personnel, responsible for the maintenance of the highway, cleared the snow on the stretch between Jawahar Tunnel and Ramban.

Reports from Katra, the base camp to the Vaishno Devi shrine, said there was heavy snowfall in the region.

The delayed rain and snowfall has, however, brightened the prospects of crops, especially around the border belt, which had been hit by a long, dry spell.
