Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Four shops near the Bata Junction, R.P. Road, were pulled down. The stretch up to Ramgopalpet Police Station, M.G. Road is to be widened. V.R. Satish Chandra, Chief City Planner, visited the spot. K. Srinivas Rao, City Planner, who supervised the demolition, said there was resistance mostly from the tenants of the shops. Mr. Rao told The Hindu that the Town Planning staff would also shortly undertake demolition on the St. Mary's Road, from Alpha Hotel to the Clock Tower. The road would be widened to the extent of 120 ft. Similar road-widening work would be taken up in the Sithaphalmandi area, from Chilkalguda to the Osmania University Junction, to make the stretch 80 ft. He said this work was being undertaken in view of the proposed road overbridge the plan of which had already been approved. A survey of the individual properties to be affected by the work was being prepared along with the estimates of the value. Once this was completed, road-widening would commence, Mr. Rao added.
