The Opposition Nagaland People's Front, meanwhile, released its poll manifesto. The Minister said he had joined the Janata Dal (U) as he was not nominated on a Congress ticket despite serving the people for 10 years. The State, which had been ruled by the Congress for a very long period, might witness a change of guard, if the present trend of political development continued as almost everyday there were reports of the Congress workers at the block level deserting the party. Last month more than seven sitting Congress Ministers and MLAs had resigned from the party creating a vacuum in the ruling Congress Government, which may inflict a serious blow to Chief Minister, S.C. Jamir's political innings. The Opposition Nagaland People's Front (NPF) released its poll manifesto yesterday with stress on a peaceful solution to the Naga issue and a resolve to stand committed to the integration of the Nagas. The agenda, more or less similar to the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN)'s common minimum programme, also promised to upgrade the Kohima bench of Guwahati High Court to a full-fledged separate High Court for Nagaland and establish a separate cell for customary law practice.
