Seven not lucky for Kalpana?

Chandigarh Feb. 2. The number `seven' proved unlucky for the space shuttle, Columbia, and the Indian-American astronaut, Kalpana Chawla, on board, who died when the spaceship exploded shortly after entering the earth's atmosphere.

The number seven and 16 — which adds up to seven — proved fatal for the mission and Kalpana, the Chandigarh-based astrologer, Madan Gupta Spathu, told PTI here today.

The number of astronauts aboard Columbia was seven and the date of launch was January 16, adding up to seven. The total number of days of the mission was also 16, Mr. Spathu pointed out.

The explosion took place 16 minutes before the scheduled touchdown. And Columbia was due for landing at 7:45 p.m. (IST), the sum total of which (7, 4 and 5) is 16. Another seven is derived from 7:27 p.m. (IST), when the spaceship last contacted its earth station at NASA. As per reports, Columbia exploded at 9:43 a.m., American time, adding up to 16. Kalpana was also influenced by seven in her life, the astrologer said. Her name, `Kalpana', had seven alphabets and she was 42 going on 43, adding up to seven. She was born on January 7, 1961. It adds up to seven.
