U.S. Army Chief arrives

New Delhi Feb. 2. The United States Army Chief, Eric K. Shinseki, today arrived here on a two-day visit during which he will be extensively briefed about continuing infiltration from across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Gen. Shinseki, the first U.S. Army Chief to visit India, will be apprised on the security situation in the region soon after his one-to-one meeting with his Indian counterpart, N.C. Vij.

During his stay here, Gen. Shinseki will also hold talks with the Chairman Chief of Staff Committee and Naval Chief Admiral, Madhvendera Singh.

He will also call on the Defence Minister, George Fernandes, before leaving for Philippines on February 4, an official release here said. — PTI
