`Digvijay targeting Hindutva to divert public attention'

Indore Feb. 2. The BJP leader, Uma Bharti, who is in-charge of the party's election campaign in Madhya Pradesh, today accused the Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, of attacking Hindutva to divert attention from the power crisis and the pathetic condition of roads.

``I am apprehensive that the Congress Government in the State may orchestrate violence for diverting public attention and I suspect its intentions. Madhya Pradesh's condition is sliding from bad to worse and the Government has been unable to fulfil the people's expectations,'' she told reporters here. ``The Congress did not take its responsibility seriously and turned a Nelson's eye on problems such as power, roads and employment. Ministers facing allegations of corruption were promoted and the `chief of such ministers' cannot be clean. The Government is driving a wedge between Muslims and Hindus,'' Ms. Bharti added. — UNI
