DMK MLAs' voice stifled in Assembly: Ponmudi

CHENNAI FEB. 2. The former Transport Minister, K. Ponmudi, today said each time the DMK members rose to speak on any issue in the Assembly, the ruling party members shouted them down. The Speaker, K. Kalimuthu, did not check this. Reacting to Mr.Kalimuthu's charge that its party MLA, Parithi Ilamvazhuthi, and he repeatedly tried to create trouble, he said this was not true.

The Opposition was not given a chance to speak in the Assembly. In the last session, when he was speaking, the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, interrupted him repeatedly. He alleged that he ended up speaking for 12 minutes, while the Chief Minister's interventions took 30 minutes.
