Realtor shot near police station

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Feb. 2. Death came calling for a realtor, a bookie and an RBI employee in three different incidents in the city on Sunday.

The realtor and Congress activist, Ragam Krishna Yadav, was shot dead by his business rivals in the evening at a tiffin centre near Chandanagar police station in Ranga Reddy district while the book-maker was stabbed to death near Mahendra Hills late in the night.

Krishna (33), a resident of Nallagandla, was walking towards the food joint along with his friends when three motorcycle-borne attackers intercepted him. While one of them stabbed him with a knife, another hit with a stone. Krishna took out his .32 revolver and fired at the killers. Immediately, the trio fired two rounds at Krishna from a close range. The assailants abandoned the country-made firearm and a helmet at the spot and fled the scene. Earlier, Krishna attended a party meeting presided over by the former CLP leader, P. Janardhan Reddy. Eyewitnesses said another three persons were seen waiting on a motorbike a few metres away from the scene of offence.

A preliminary probe revealed that the murder was a fall-out of monetary dispute. One of the killers was identified as Srinivas Yadav, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Krishna's elder brother, Shankar, in May last year.

The Balanagar DSP, Shankaraiah, said the victim obtained firearm licence after his brother was allegedly burnt alive in intoxicated condition by Srinivas and two others in Annasagar police station limits in Mahabubnagar a year ago. The trio came out of the jail recently on bail. It is said they clashed with Krishna in Nallagandla a couple of times.

Rs. 4 lakhs taken away

In the second incident, the bookie, Munawar Shah, was stabbed to death and robbed of Rs. 4 lakhs cash by four unidentified persons at Azad Chandrashekharnagar, near Mahendra Hills. The victim was travelling in a car and carrying the cash when the killers intercepted his vehicle near Tagore's Home College. Even as Munawar was getting down the car, the criminals attacked him with knives inflicting deep injuries.

They grabbed the cash and fled on a scooter and motorbike. The Tukaramgate police rushed to the scene and shifted the victim to Apollo Hospital at Karkhana where he died while undergoing treatment. A resident of Mahendra Hills, Munawar operates a booking counter at Malakpet Race Course.

The police suspect it to be a case of murder for gain. It is said the victim was returning home from Chandrashekharnagar road. The incharge Police Commissioner, M.L. Kumawat, visited the spot.

Monetary dispute

In the third incident, the RBI employee, A. Parker (45), was stabbed to death by two persons -- Shakeel and Younus -- at his house in Lingampally under Kachiguda police station limits late in the night.

The police said the victim had a monetary dispute with one of his colleagues. The duo carried out the murder at the instance of the victim's colleague, the police said. They came to Parker's house, called him out and attacked him with knives.
