The spokesman of 16 Corps, Lt. Col. Rathore, said the plane was on a mission to survey Indian military installations in the border belt. With the UAV debris in hand, there was clear evidence to establish the violation of Indian airspace by Pakistan. The plane was noticed by an alert sentry in the Mendhar sector on Thursday at 2 p.m. inside 400 metres of the Indian territory. It was shot down immediately and its debris lay scattered near the Line of Control within the firing range of the Pakistan army.
