By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA FEB. 8. An employee of the primary health centre of Nagaram in Arvapally mandal committed suicide near police station after allegedly being "slapped by a staff nurse'' on Saturday.

According to the Arvaplly police, the watchman of the PHC, Kanneboyina Venkanna (23), consumed pesticide near the police station in the afternoon. On seeing the youth, the police rushed him to the area hospital at Suryapet. He was declared brought dead by the doctors.

In a complaint lodged with the police, Venkanna's mother alleged that "the staff-nurse slapped him in the morning after scolding unnecessarily.'' "Unable to bear the humiliation, my son resorted to the extreme step,'' she ad ded.

The police registered a case.

Meanwhile, irked by the incident, villagers staged a dharna at Nagaram demanding the suspension of the nurse.
