National Commission of Minorities reconstituted

NEW DELHI
FEB. 8.
The Government today reconstituted the National Commission of Minorities (NCM), with the outgoing vice-chairman, Tarlochan Singh, being elevated to the office of chairman. Though the notification was issued over the weekend, the seven-member commission had been finalised during the week at the highest level.
Besides Mr. Singh, another member of the previous commission has been nominated afresh.
The president of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman and vice-president of the Federation of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India, A. M. Sethna, will continue to represent the Parsis on the commission for a second successive term. The Muslims will be represented by the Unani physician, M. S. Usmani, and the industrialist, Ahmed Rashid Sherwani. Dr. Usmani will also succeed Mr. Singh as the vice-chairman of the commission. Other three members are; Bhante Arya Nagarjuna Surei Sasai, founder of Dharmasena; the Kerala State president of the BJP Minority Morcha, V. V. Augustine; and the outgoing member , K. Santhaa Reddy.
