NSS releases confirmation bill as evidence

By Our Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM FEB. 8. The Nair Service Society (NSS), which was accused by the Union Minister of State for Defence,O. Rajagopal, of not informing him of the cancellation of the programme organised by the students union at the NSS Hindu College, Perunna, on February 3, has turned the tables on the BJP leader by releasing the confirmation bill for the fax sent on February 1.

As per the evidence released by the NSS, a one-page message has gone from the NSS headquarters to the telephone number 01123354631 at 5 p.m. on February 1. This is the residence telephone number of the Minister of State for Defence, they said.

Meanwhile, the talks between the college authorities and the ABVP- controlled students' union failed to make any headway and the college remained closed indefinitely.

According to college authorities, they have agreed to the students' demand that the programme to distribute endowments should be organised. They have also agreed to invite the Mr. Rajagopal to the function. However, the students' union leaders insist on their demand that the principal should appologise to them in writing for all the incidents. But the college authorities are not ready for it.

On the other hand, the BJP State general secretary, Ettumanur Radhakrishnan, today alleged that the NSS leadership was acting in a conscious manner to cast aspersions on the Union Minister. Though they professed a policy of equi distance, they took a stand which was unilateral and anti-Hindutva, he said.

The ABVP also came down heavily on the NSS leadership and said the latter was trying to spread falsehood against the organisation.
