India beats Japan

New Delhi Feb. 9. India defeated Japan 4-1 in the Asia-Oceania Group I Davis Cup tie winning both the reverse singles matches here today.

Leander Paes defeated Gouchi Motomura 1-6 6-3 6-4 after Rohan Bopanna had given India a winning 3-1 lead earlier in the morning.
